Yui Kawaguchi (Germany / Japan)
New stage of Alexandrinsky theatre / Blackbox
Dance-Light Performance. Awarded the Cologne Dance Prize, andropolaroid 1.1 is a solo based on the choreographer’s own experiences after having immigrated from Japan to Germany. To share her observations, she conceived a sophisticated model of sound and light, creating a new organism within which she immerses herself - with body and soul. The flickering of light, the undertow of sound and a curiosity for this strange world drive her dance…
Yui Kawaguchi was born in Japan. She studied Classical Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop and contemporary dance, acting and singing. She danced in the companies of H.art.chaos, Kota Yamazaki/Rosy, co and Motoko Hirayama, performing in Japan, the USA and Europe. She choreographed for the opening festival of East Asian Olympics 2001. Between 2001-2003 she worked with the “media drive unit 66b/cel". Together with this multimedia performance group, she was invited to perform at ARS Electronica (Linz), Seoul International Dance Festival and Japan Virtual Reality Conference.
Since 2005 she works in Berlin and tours around the world.
